Attention: Stephen Pritchard

Hi Stephen

I am a C5/C6 quadriplegic. I use a power wheelchair to get around.

My parents and I are planning a trip to England and Europe around September 4, 2006 to October 9, 2006 (5 weeks).

Updated:  It might be wiser for us to stay somewhere convenient in downtown London the first few days of our trip within walking distance or wheelchair accessible taxi of things to do before we rent a wheelchair accessible vehicle to tour outside of London.  We would still like self-catering accommodations that are wheelchair friendly with a roll-in-shower, a kitchen for breakfast cooking and two beds (1 bed for my parents and 1 bed for me).

Old plan:  We would like to stay for 1 week at a time at 5 different locations throughout England and Europe. We would like self-catering accommodations that are wheelchair friendly. A roll-in-shower, a kitchen for breakfast cooking and two beds (1 bed for my parents and 1 bed for me) are needed at each accommodation. We would prefer to avoid "American chain" type accommodations to give us a better feel of old England and European charm.

We would be starting week 1 in London.

We also would like to rent a wheelchair accessible lowered floor minivan in London. (like a Kangoo adapted for a wheelchair I think). Since we drive from the left-hand side of a vehicle in Canada, we are prepared to deal with a right-hand side drive vehicle in England but it might be a problem driving the same vehicle in continental Europe. After our week in England, it might be wiser to return the London rented vehicle and travel by Chunnel train from London to Paris and rent a left-hand side driving wheelchair accessible lowered floor minivan vehicle in Paris.

We thought that instead of backtracking to return home at the end of our trip we would fly home (to Winnipeg) from Paris instead of London.

My power chair charger works on 110 volts. What are the various electrical outlets in the places we will be staying?

We would like to tour around the following areas and possibly see:

A list of things you recommend to see and do in each country that are wheelchair friendly would be helpful and very much appreciated.

We enjoy the following:
Dinning out
Theatre Plays
Scenic Drives
A Museum (here and there)
Farmers markets
